Maid Service Charlotte NC: What to Look For

maid service charlotte nc

Thinking about hiring someone to perform house cleaning services for you in Charlotte NC or Rock Hill? Not all maid services in the Carolinas are created equal. Of course we like to think we are among the best, but if you’re looking for some general criteria by which to rate local house cleaning companies, here’s our best attempt at an unbiased review of what characterizes a maid you’d want to hire.

#1: Heroic Cleaning Services

How do we define “heroic”? It’s simple: a heroic house cleaner is one who comes to your rescue in your time of need. Cleaning is a difficult business, and not many people enjoy doing it. What makes a superhero a superhero? They rescue you from difficult times! A heroic house cleaning company will rescue you from having to do any of the dirty work you hate doing by showing up and taking care of every small detail.

As an example, let’s say you have a situation where your septic tank backs up and your bathroom floor is covered in dirty sewage. (This actually happened to one of our recent clients!) You certainly don’t want to be a crappy situation like that (pun intended), but unfortunately, it happens sometimes. A heroic cleaning service in Charlotte NC would be happy to take care of this for you. In fact, because house cleaning is a passion of theirs, they’ll even be passionate about doing so. Can you imagine someone who’s passionate about cleaning up sewage? The right house cleaning company will be!

#2: Good Reviews.

A good cleaning company will have a good reputation. You can usually find out all you need to know by doing a Google search and seeing what comes up. If they have great reviews online, the next step would be to call them and develop a relationship. Yes, that’s right. You should absolutely build a relationship with your house cleaner. In fact, that brings us to our next point.

#3: Professional & Courteous.

You don’t want to invite someone into your home if they are rude and unprofessional. As you begin speaking with the maid service that you’re thinking about hiring, it’s a good time to gage their character and reliability. Get to know them. Ask questions. Interview them! You’re inviting them into your living space, which is very personal, so you want to make sure they can be trusted. Hopefully, you’re a good judge of character and can determine from the initial conversation if it’s going to be a good fit.

#4: Properly Licensed & Insured.

This is very important. Hiring a Charlotte maid service who is not properly licensed and insured could mean that you wind up being liable if something happens while they’re on the job. In order to prevent personal liability, make sure the company you decide to do business with carries all of the essential certifications required by your state.

#5: Competitively Priced.

Now this is important to remember: the lowest price is not always going to be the best value. However, you don’t want to hire someone who is going to charge you an arm and a leg for house cleaning services, so we do recommend shopping around to ensure that you get the best bang for your buck. See this post for more info on the cost to hire a maid services in Charlotte NC.

How to Find Professional House Cleaning Services in Rock Hill, SC

maid charlotte nc

If you’re looking for professional housekeeping or house cleaning services in Rock Hill or Charlotte, you may be wondering where to start. Perhaps you’ve found a few business cards lingering in your mailbox or newspaper holder from local house cleaners advertising their services.

(As a local business owner, I’ve left a few of those myself a time or two!)

Or maybe you’re wondering if you should go with one of the big-box chains online. Like Made Brigade or Molly Maid. While there’s nothing wrong with either of those options, I personally prefer to support local businesses. However, I can understand wanting to make sure you hire someone who is professional, licensed, bonded, and insured. Your home is a valuable piece of property, so you want to make sure that if you’re going to let someone in, they’re going to take care of it like it’s their own!

Here are a few tips to help you find a professional house cleaner in Rock Hill SC or Charlotte NC that will more than meet your needs.

1. Browse online. Most businesses have a website these days. Or they should if they’re professional. That’s not to say that the neighbor who left her business card in your mailbox isn’t professional, but if they’re willing to pay for an online presence, that’s a sign that they’ve invested in themselves and in their business. Which means they are more likely to take their job seriously and treat your house like the valuable piece of property that it is.

2. Read reviews. If a business has been around long enough, they are sure to have racked up a good amount of online reviews from current and past customers. Take the time to read through each one and make sure they are positive … for the most part. Occasionally you may find a bad apple in the bunch, but that’s the reality for any business, since nobody’s perfect.

3. Ask your friends. The people you know are some of the greatest referral sources, and chances are they’ve had a good experience with a local house cleaning company and will be able to refer you to someone they believe is trustworthy. If your friends have trusted them, then they are probably going to be reliable.

4. Price shop … but not too much. A few weeks ago, I wrote about the cost of house cleaning services in Rock Hill SC, and in that post, I explained that the lowest price is not always going to provide the best value. While I advocate for trying to find the best deal you can, there are several factors to consider in addition to cost, such as, is the professional house cleaner licensed and insured. If someone offers a very low price for their services, it could be because they don’t hold the proper paperwork, and if something goes wrong while they’re on the job, you could be held liable. I generally don’t recommend buying a Groupon for house cleaning services either, because you just never know what you’re going to get. But if you see that the reviews for a company are good and they seem to have a favorable reputation, then it might not be a bad idea to see if they’re offering some sort of deal for first-time customers.

As someone who offers professional house cleaning services in Rock Hill, I speak largely from experience on this issue! And as you probably guessed, I might be somewhat biased. Maybe. Just a little. 😉 Still, if you are looking for a professional house cleaner, I’d love to be your go-to girl. If you support me, you’ll be supporting a local business owner who is licensed, bonded, and insured, and fully dedicated to ensuring you get the best experience possible for the best value.

Bathroom Cleaning: Tips to Help You Save Time

bathroom cleaning services charlotte nc

The bathroom is commonly the most used room in the house, and because of this, it’s also the hardest room in your house to clean and keep clean. By incorporating a few of these time-saving tips into your normal cleaning routine, you could cut your cleaning time in half and save on the cost of cleaning products.

When cleaning the bathroom, always start with the mirrors and shower doors. By cleaning from top to bottom you will certainly save time and cut down on the number of steps required.

To clean the mirrors and shower doors, you do not need to purchase a costly chemical bathroom cleaner. The best cleaner and also one that doesn’t leave streaks, is a straightforward mix of water, white vinegar (1/3 cup) and alcohol (1/4 cup). Simply add these ingredients to a spray bottle and shake to mix. Spray this on glass surfaces and wipe with a paper towel or lint-free cloth.

To remove crud and soap residue from the bathtub and shower stall you can use this simple 2-step process: Scrub the area with a white bristled brush to loosen gunk as well as score the location so that a cleaner can penetrate it a lot more easily. Next, spray it with an orange-based commercial cleaning product. Let it set for half an hour to allow the gunk/soap residue to wash straight off.

After cleaning up the bathtub and shower stall, layer the surface areas with automobile wax. If you do this two times a year it will help to keep away dirt as well as cut your cleaning time in half.

Another fun time-saving shower-stall cleaning tip is to rinse it well with water after each use. This will certainly keep dust and grime from accumulating and make weekly cleaning go much faster.

After you have cleaned the bathtub and/or shower stall, it is time to clean the toilet and wipe the counters, faucets and sinks. White vinegar is a low-cost, effective solution for these purposes. Just apply it with a cloth and let it set for a couple of minutes. Rinse and wipe down the surfaces thoroughly before drying them with a clean towel. Don’t worry – the vinegar smell should go away quickly!

Other bathroom cleaning ideas include making use of a bath rug outside the shower to absorb excess water and dust, cleaning your plastic shower curtain by tossing it into the washing machine with your dirty towels, and using toothpaste and a scrub brush to detail your metal sink faucets.

5 Ways to Make Your House Feel Clean in a Hurry

vase of flowers

As the premier Charlotte and Rock Hill house cleaning service, I’m always looking to provide homeowners with value, which includes sprinkling a few helpful tips on my blog here and there. Recently, I had a conversation with a mom who said she’d feel a lot less stressed if her house didn’t “feel” so messy all the time. With kids’ toys all over the floor and dishes piling up in the sink every day, it’s easy to start to get that “dirty” feeling, and we all know how stressful that feeling can be. A few quick, simple tweaks can help you make your house feel cleaner when you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to do a full deep clean.

#1. Purge. This is my favorite synonym for “declutter.” I always encourage my clients to declutter their houses before I come to clean, as it makes my job easier and more efficient (thereby saving you money!) However, I also offer decluttering and organization services for those who don’t want to do it themselves.

If your house feels cluttered all the time, it may be because you have too many unnecessary things taking up space. In that case, grab a trash bag or a cardboard box, and spend a few minutes each day purging every room until your house is succesfully clutter-free.

Dig through those junk drawers and comb through your closets and cabinets. If there are items that have been sitting there for a while that you haven’t used or don’t intend to use in the near future, throw ’em out. Don’t hesitate, or you’ll keep hoarding!

#2. Make the bed. It only takes a few extra minutes each morning, and the effect is priceless. Most people don’t take the time to make their beds. After all, you’re just going to pull back the sheets and sleep in it again later that night, so why bother? But you’ll be surprised how much cleaner a room looks when the bed is made.

#3. Add a vase of fresh flowers. They’ll make your home smell great and look pretty!  You can pick them from your yard, or visit a local florist if you don’t have a garden. They’ll be able to tell you what’s in season and what will work best in your home. Or, if you’d rather keep things simple, pick up a ready-made bouquet from your local grocer.

#4. Bake something sweet. The kitchen might get a little messy for this one, but it’ll give you an excuse to clean it. And when you’re done, you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.

#5. Vacuum. It may sound daunting, but you don’t have to vacuum your whole house all at once. Spend a few minutes a day vacuuming one room at a time. At the end of a week, your house will feel much cleaner.

These are all great ideas for making your house feel cleaner when you don’t have time to do a full deep clean. And of course, when you’re ready for that deep clean, call your professional Charlotte NC house cleaning company at (803) 339-1411, and we’ll take care of it for you!

The Cost to Hire a Charlotte Maid Service

house cleaning services rock hill cost

If you’re shopping around for house cleaning services in Charlotte NC or Rock Hill, you may be wondering about the cost. Different service providers price their services differently, and there are several things to consider before deciding who to go with.

Many consumers will price shop, and the cleaning company the offers lowest price is not always the best one to hire. In this post, I’ll discuss the various factors that go into the cost of cleaning services.

Of course, we at Rock Hill Cleaning Superheroes would be honored to become your professional cleaners, but ultimately, our hope is that you’ll make an informed decision based on your particular needs and budget!

Not all Charlotte house cleaning companies are created equal!

Before you hire a professional house cleaner, make sure to find out if they are properly licensed and insured. If they aren’t, you could be held liable for any damages that occur while they are on the job. Some professional cleaners may offer lower prices, but if they are not properly licensed and insured, you could end up paying a lot more than expected out of pocket, should something go wrong.

Also, online reputation should play a role in your decision. Previous customers often leave reviews online when they have a good or bad experience with a cleaning company. Reading those reviews will give you a good idea of whether or not they will do a good, thorough job and should weigh in on whether you decide to give them a call.

The 2 basic pricing models that cleaning companies use

There are two main pricing models that you may encounter while price shopping for a cleaning company in your area:

1. Hourly. Some professional house cleaners charge an hourly fee. There are things you can do beforehand to bring that number down, such as decluttering your home. While we are happy to take care of the decluttering process for you, we recommend that you do it yourself if you’re on a budget and want to save some money, since our services are priced on an hourly basis. Decluttering and straightening up your home before we arrive will help to improve our efficiency and make the length of the job much shorter.

2. Size of area. Other cleaning companies in Charlotte NC and Rock Hill SC base their costs on the size of your home, apartment, or small office. In that case, you will pay a flat fee no matter how long the job takes. Often, multiple cleaners will be employed at once time to increase efficiency and decrease the number of hours it takes to clean an area, especially if it is large.

In our experience, we’ve found that both models equate to similar pricing overall. It’s a give-and-take and really depends on your personal situation.

As mentioned above, the lowest-priced service provider is not always the best choice. Consider the business’ reputation and track record, and be sure to verify proper licensing and insurance before making a final decision to hire a particular house cleaning company. Also, most cleaning companies are willing to give you a free estimate before commencing services. In that case, you can meet them and get a good feel for their character and reliability as well.

Saving your sanity is priceless!

Consider that if a messy home or office is stressing you out, then professional cleaning services will likely be worth every penny. Remember: your sanity is more important than any amount of money.

Kitchen Cleaning Tips From a Charlotte NC Pro!

Cleaning the kitchen can be a messy job. You may dread the thought of emptying your sink after the dishes have been piling up for days, full of caked on food and gunk that seems like it’s going to be impossible to clean off. Or maybe you have kids who are constantly dropping cheerios and crumbs on the floor, along with their supposedly “spill-proof” soppy cups that are full of apple juice that somehow makes its way out and forms a sticky mess that you don’t notice until you have a pest infestation…

Does any of this sound familiar? If you hate cleaning your kitchen, I’m here to tell you there are ways to make it go much faster and easier. Here are my best tips for cleaning your kitchen and keeping your sanity in the process.

Tip #1: Clean as you go. We spend a lot of time prepping food in the kitchen and it doesn’t take long for counters to fill up and dishes to pile up. A good rule of thumb that I like to use in my own house is “clean as you go,” which simply means to clean while you cook. After you prep your food, while it’s cooking on the stove or in the oven, that’s a great time to clean the dishes you used to prep and to wipe the counters. When you’re finished eating, you’ll just have a few pots and pans to clean. You can place your plates and utensils into the dishwasher, wipe down the kitchen table, and you’re done!

Tip #2: Put as many dishes as you can into the dishwasher. You actually use less water when you operate the dishwasher vs. washing your dishes by hand. So if it’s dishwasher safe, I recommend letting your dishwasher do the work for you!

Tip #3: Pre-soak hard-to-clean pots and pans. A little baking soda and some warm water goes a long way toward making your stainless steel shiny again. You may also want to use a little dish soap as well. If you pre-soak them, they’ll be much easier to clean. You won’t have to use as much elbow grease.

Tip #4: Let Rover eat your scraps. If you have a dog, don’t be afraid to call him over to the table when your toddler drops his food on the floor. Just make sure the dropped food is on the safe-to-eat list for pets. There are some foods that dogs cannot safely consume.

Tip #5: Relax! Play some music and try to have fun. Cleaning doesn’t have to be a chore you dread. And if you dread it that much, then you may want to consider my last tip…

Tip #6: Hire a professional. At the end of the day, if you really hate cleaning, it will only add more stress to your life. A professional house cleaner can help you retain your sanity by doing the hard work for you. I have spent many years cleaning kitchens and actually find a lot of enjoyment in the task, which is why I’ve chosen to make it my full-time business. The Clean Before the Clean

the clean before the clean

So you’ve decided to hire a professional house cleaning company for your home in Rock Hill or Charlotte … you took a look around and the mess was so great it made you want to cry. There’s no way you’ll ever have the time to pick up your children’s toys, empty the kitchen sink, or do the 5 loads of laundry that have piled up over weeks and weeks.

You look online and see Rock Hill Cleaning Superheroes and decide to give Jennifer a call. First off, I just want to say thank you for making that decision. I will not let you down! Second, I want to ask that you please not worry about the clean before the clean. You know what I’m talking about. That quick scramble you do to straighten up before your house cleaner gets here to do the rest. After all, you wouldn’t want me to see the mess you’re living in, right?

You may think your mess is unbecoming and that I’m going to take one look at your house want want to walk right out the door, but nothing could be further from the truth! I want you to know that there is absolutely NO judgement on my part. You can leave your mess just the way it is. In fact, I encourage you to leave the house for the duration of my cleaning. Let me take care of everything for you.

My passion is helping people in need, and homeowners with messy houses definitely fall into that group! We’ve all done it. Hired a professional, but did a little “pre-gaming” beforehand just to make sure we didn’t look bad in front of them once they arrived. As if your housekeeper is “company” that you need to entertain or impress?

(Nudge, nudge, wink, wink … am I right?)

Girl, please. 😉

You have enough to worry about. If you’re going to spend money on house cleaning services, then you may as well get the most bang for your buck, right? I want you to enjoy yourself. That’s why you’re hiring me in the first place. Take your husband and your kids to the mountains or the beach. Go on a mini-vacation with your family and come home to freshly cleaned house. I’ll do everything, from picking up your children’s toys to folding and putting away your laundry.

I understand that people like things done a certain way. That’s why we provide free consultations, where I sit down with you and discuss your needs and wants beforehand. I’ll also take some time to get familiar with your living space. That way I know where to put your glassware, folded laundry, and other items. I wouldn’t want you to come home to a house where you’re unable to find your things because I’ve hidden them in unfamiliar places!

So this is my plea to you. As someone who deserves some much-needed “me” time, please don’t worry about the clean before the clean. There’s only one clean, and it’s the one I’ll take care of on your behalf. You need time off, so take it! I can even throw a roast and some veggies into the crock pot for you so you can come home to a clean house and a warm meal. Just say the word. My goal is your 100% satisfaction, guaranteed.

I know what you’re thinking … you’re probably reading this to yourself and saying at this very minute, “I need to at least straighten up the clutter and pick up my kids’ toys before Jennifer arrives.” No you don’t! My house cleaning company is a one-stop shop. De-cluttering and organization are part of my cleaning service offerings, and they are there for you to take full advantage of. Take a look at this page to learn more about our process for cleaning to ensure maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
